Through a series of community building activities and neighborhood enrichment opportunities, our community services efforts work to improve the quality of life for residents living in needy neighborhoods within the Southern New Hampshire region. Efforts to improve neighborhoods include our Renter Readiness program, neighborhood clean ups, block parties, and the promotion of neighborhood meetings or watch groups. In addition to NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire’s efforts to make positive change for residents in the neighborhoods we serve, we work in collaboration with local agencies to improve the health and well being of residents.
The Community Services Committee and the Nashua Community Development Advisory Committee help guide the work of NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire’s community services efforts in two of our biggest communities. The Community Services Committee is comprised of local residents and community leaders who are interested in improving neighborhoods within the Greater Manchester area. The Nashua Community Development Advisory Committee consists of local residents and community leaders who are interested in improving neighborhoods within the Greater Nashua area. Our community services efforts change with the needs of the neighborhood.
In addition to our community services efforts, we are also responsible for assisting and empowering the 900-plus residents of NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire rental properties to achieve their personal goals. Many of our resident services activities are geared toward youth and families. In recent years we have offered activities for our residents, including an annual tenant barbecue, family fun day scholarships, summer camp scholarships, gardening, school supply distribution, financial mentoring, and school vacation activities. We also provide referrals to social service agencies and update residents on local free or reduced price opportunities with our bi-monthly tenant newsletters.
