Home Buyer Education and Assistance

Home Buyer Education and Assistance

The NeighborWorks® Homeownership Center is a program of NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire, a non-profit community housing organization that has provided homeownership education, counseling and assistance to thousands of families statewide.

The educational programs and lending capabilities are an integral part of our approach to fulfill our mission of providing access to affordable housing services. The NeighborWorks® Home Ownership Center offers FREE home buyer education, financial fitness training, landlord workshops, foreclosure prevention and intervention services, one on-one counseling and access to  special matched saving programs to help home buyers achieve the dream of home ownership.

The first step in the process is to attend one of the many offered workshops. Once an individual graduates from a workshop, they become eligible to meet with a HomeOwnership Counselor. A counseling session consists of analyzing credit and finances to help determine the most affordable housing options for the client. Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the particular client.

For home buying clients not completely ready to purchase, the counselor will work with them to set up a step- by- step action plan to help overcome any current or potential obstacles to buying a home. The program offers guidance with repairing credit, budgeting, and money management in preparation for homeownership.  For clients that are “purchase-ready” the focus is more on understanding the responsibilities of home ownership along with current real estate industry products and guidelines.

All the education opportunities at the NeighborWorks® Home Ownership Center are open to the public and are offered free of charge. Start now by calling 866-701-9097 or register on line.
