A new affordable housing development is on schedule to open in Amherst this fall.
The Hidden Pond Apartments at 104 Amherst Street are on track for an August completion with units leasing-up during the first part of September, according to Neighborhood Development Manager Jennifer Vadney.
The $6.7 million project is the first in the Greater Nashua area for Neighborworks Southern New Hampshire, a non-profit organization dedicated to “the improvement of the lives of individuals and families by providing access to quality housing services, revitalizing neighborhoods and supporting opportunities for personal empowerment.”
Construction on this latest addition to residential housing in Amherst began in October.
There will be five buildings with 28, 2-bedroom apartments that include 1.5 baths, washer/dryer hook-ups and “tons of windows that allow for some very nice natural light.” Vadney added that there will be ample parking for residents and visitors and a dumpster on site.
Neighborworks is currently accepting names on a pre-wait list and will begin taking actual applications sometime in June. She encourages anyone who thinks they might be interested in renting a unit to call.
Those interested in joining the pre-wait list can contact Neighborworks Southern New Hampshire at 603-626-4663 ex. 1600.
