Members of the Board of Directors, Trustees, staff, town of Londonderry representatives, project funders, donors, and other invited guests came together on August 5th to celebrate the opening of the Townhomes at Whittemore Place. This first phase of construction on Mammoth Road has resulted in the development of 45 new units of affordable workforce housing, as well as a community room and leasing office.
The two- and three- bedroom, townhouse-style units were fully occupied by the end of August. The second phase will include an additional 33 units, resulting in much needed affordable housing options in Londonderry and the largest workforce housing development in our portfolio.
Robert Tourigny along with Rich Clegg, Chair of the Board of Directors, presented plaques to project partners and funders at the event. Staff conducted tours of select units in the development.
Other speakers were Congressman Frank Guinta; Joseph B. Reilly, Trustee and Eastern Bank New Hampshire Market President; and Dean Christon, Executive Director of New Hampshire Housing.
“This new development is the culmination of nearly 10 years of collaboration in the Town of Londonderry,’ said Robert Tourigny. “All the units were fully occupied within a month of the opening of the project, and I think that is a testament to how strong the demand is for this type of housing in Londonderry.”
The apartments are available to individuals and families whose total income is between 50 and 60 percent of the area median family income. For a family of four, for example, the total income would be at least $39,700 but below $47,640. The monthly rent for an apartment ranges from $975 to $1,125, including heat and hot water.
