NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire along with more than 70 guests celebrated the completion of The Townhomes at Whittemore Place on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at 404 Mammoth Road in Londonderry. Attendees included project funders, development partners, United States Senator Frank Guinta, and New Hampshire State Senator Sharon Carson. The Townhomes at Whittemore Place is an $8.8 million development project, resulting in the creation of 45 new affordable, two and three bedroom rental apartments. The dedication ceremony took place at the development.
The Townhomes at Whittemore Place is the first development constructed under the Town of Londonderry’s workforce housing ordinance. This development helps to answer a need for affordable rental housing in Londonderry, a town with low rental housing stock.
“The Townhomes at Whittemore Place will provide needed affordable rental options in Londonderry,” stated Robert Tourigny, Executive Director of NeighborWorks® Southern New Hampshire. “We are very pleased that all of the necessary elements came together to make these attractive, affordable townhome-style apartments possible. We continue to seek ways to help towns in Southern New Hampshire create affordable housing options for working residents,” continued Tourigny.
Residents of The Townhomes at Whittemore Place will have total income that is between 50% - 60% of the area median family income. For example, total annual income for a family of four must be at least $39,700 but below $47,640. The monthly rent for an apartment will range from $975 - $1,125, including heat and hot water.
Financial partners for this development are: New Hampshire Housing, Raymond James, Eastern Bank, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. Other partners include: John S. Jordan Design, architect; Gary Chicoine Construction Corporation, general contractor; Hayner/Swanson, Inc., civil engineering.
